Ontario has held a tech draw on  January inviting eligible candidates for the 954 Express Entry to apply for a provincial nomination for the second residency.
Those who received a Notification of Interest (NOI) in the January  draw had to Express Entry Comprehensive Ranking System scores between 460 and 472.

The Province of Ontario issues NOIs to express admission candidates to invite them to apply for provincial nominations.

With provincial enrollment, their marks increase by 600 points and they are given priority to invite applications for permanent residence in Canada.

The candidates selected in this draw required work experience in one of the following six occupations:

  • Software Engineer & Designer (NOC 2173)
  • Computer Programmers and Interactive Media Developers (NOC 2174)
  • Computer Engineer (NOC 2147)
  • Web Designers & Developers (NOC 2175)
  • Database Analyst and Data Administrator (NOC 2172)
  • Computer and Information Systems Manager (NOC 0213)

The first step: get into the express entry pool

To be considered for the Tech Draw, candidates must have a qualified profile registered under either the Federal Skilled Worker Class or the Canadian Experience Class, both of which are managed by the Federal Express Entry System.

Every candidate in the express entry pool is awarded a score under CRS based on factors such as age or education, skilled work experience and proficiency in English or French.

How Tech Draws work

The OINP Tech Draw is organized through the province’s Human Capital Priorities Immigration Section, which allows for a search of the Federal Express Entry pool for candidates who meet the eligibility requirements of the OINP stream.

A job offer is not required in order to be eligible for the Human Capital Priorities section.

The purpose of these draws is to search specifically for express entry candidates who meet the eligibility requirements of the Human Capital Priority Stream and have at least one year of continuous paid full-time work experience (or paid part-time work).
