New Manitoba draws 157 skilled workers and international students

Manitoba has currently issued 6,731 invites to skilled worker candidates in 2019

Manitoba invited 157 skilled foreign staff to apply for a provincial nomination for Canadian permanent residence during a new draw held october 24.

The invites visited candidates within the Manitoba Provincial nominee Program (MPNP)’s skilled worker in Manitoba, skilled worker Overseas and International Education immigration pathways.

The MPNP is part of Canada’s Provincial nominee Program, that permits participating Canadian provinces and territories to nominate a set number of skilled workers and alternative Economic class immigration candidates for Canadian permanent residence every year.

Manitoba has issued 6,731 invites to use for a provincial nomination to skilled worker candidates so far this year.

The invites, known as Letters of advice to apply (LAAs), were divided as follows:

  • Skilled Worker in Manitoba:-(117) A Manitoba Supporter is an established resident of the province who is a friend or relative of the applicant and is able to review and support the applicant's plan to establish and find employment in their destination community.
  •  Skilled Worker Overseas:- (24)
  • International Education Stream: 16

The MPNP said that 12 of the invitations issued went to candidates with a profile within the federal express Entry system.

To be considered for a provincial nomination from Manitoba, express Entry candidates should have eligible work experience in one of Manitoba’s in-demand occupations, among alternative requirements, and submit a separate Expression of Interest to the MPNP.

Skilled Worker Overseas

The MPNP’s skilled worker Overseas class allows the MPNP to select and nominate approved foreign staff with skills required in Manitoba’s labour market.

Among other criteria, candidates must have an established association to Manitoba like close family or friends, previous education or work experience in the province or an invitation through one of the MPNP’s Strategic recruitment Initiatives.

All 24 skilled worker Overseas candidates invited in the october 24 draw were invited directly through a Strategic accomplishment Initiative, that include overseas recruitment missions led by the MPNP.

In order to be considered for a nomination, all candidates must first register an Expression of Interest (EOI).

All EOIs are issued a score out of 1,000 based on the MPNP’s skilled worker points grid, that considers a candidate’s age, skilled work experience, education level and proficiency in English or French, among different factors.

The highest-scoring candidates ar issued a Letter of recommendation to use through regular attracts from the province’s EOI pool.

The 24 skilled worker migrant candidates invited on 24 October had a minimum score of 685.

Skilled Worker in Manitoba

The skilled worker in Manitoba category also operates on an EOI basis.

Candidates in this class must be working in Manitoba and have a full-time , permanent job provide from their employer, among different criteria.

The lowest-ranked candidate invited through the skilled worker in Manitoba class on october 24 had an EOI score of 567.

International Education Stream

Manitoba graduates with certain in-demand skills is also invited under the International Education Stream.

This stream includes 3 sub-categories: Career Employment Pathway, Graduate internship Pathway, and the Student entrepreneur Pathway.
