About express entry system

Express Entry is an application management system for three federal immigration programs: the Federal Skilled Worker Program, the Federal Skilled Trades Program, and the Canadian Experience Class.

Eligible candidates are ranked in the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) based on human capital factors such as age, work experience, education and language ability in English or French. Receiving the provincial nomination is an automatic 600 CRS mark.

The highest-scoring candidates are issued invitations to apply for permanent residency (ITAs) through a bi-weekly draw. Once candidates receive an ITA from the federal government, they can apply for permanent residency.
