Nova Scotia draws Social and Community Service Workers from Express Entry pool
A new draw through nova Scotia’s Labour Market Priorities Stream has issued new invites to Express Entry candidates with work experience as social and community service staff.
The Labour Market Priorities Stream permits the nova Scotia’s immigrant nominee program, the NSNP, to search the federal express Entry pool for candidates with specific work experience and invite them to apply for a provincial nomination for Canadian permanent residence.
The Dec 5 draw was the NSNP’s sixth through the Labour Market Priorities Stream in 2019. Previous draws this year have targeted express Entry candidates with eligible work experience as nurses, carpenters, financial auditors and accountants, among others.
The express Entry system manages the pool of candidates for the Federal skilled worker category, Federal skilled Trades category and also the Canadian experience category, that are 3 of Canada’s main Economic category immigration programs.
Express Entry candidates who receive a provincial nomination are awarded an extra 600 points toward their ranking score and, as a result, are effectively secured letter of invitation to apply for Canadian permanent residence in a subsequent draw from the express Entry pool.
The Dec 5 draw targeted express Entry candidates with work experience in National occupational Classification (NOC) 4212 — Social and Community Service staff.
Candidates selected through the Labour Market Priorities Stream don’t want a job offer within the province so as to be considered.
Candidates chosen by NSNP receive a Letter of Interest through the express Entry system and have 30 calendar days from the date the letter was issued to submit their application.
Among different criteria, candidates need to meet the subsequent necessities in order to be eligible:
- have a primary occupation of social worker or community service worker (NOC 4212);
- provide letters of reference from employers that demonstrate they need 2 or more years of full-time or equivalent part-time experience as a social worker or community service worker within the 5 years preceding the application;
- have language test results demonstrating a Canadian Language Benchmark score of seven or higher in English or French in all four language abilities (reading, writing, speaking and listening);
- hold a bachelor’s degree or have completed a program of 3 or more years at a university, college, trade or tech, or alternative eligible institute.
- have a legitimate express Entry profile that was submitted on or after Dec 6, 2018.
