British Columbia, Alberta, Quebec and Manitoba issue invitations for provincial immigration

[ad_1]
Four provinces have invited candidates in recent provincial immigration draws.

Most economic immigrants to Canada arrive in Canada through the Permanent Resident Provincial Nominee Program (PNP). In the Immigration Levels Plan 2024-2025, there is a target of more than 117,500 new PNP permanent residents arriving in Canada each year by 2025.

PNPs help to spread the economic benefits of immigration across Canada, rather than the majority of immigrants settling in a few urban centres, as was seen prior to the program’s inception in 1998.

Provinces can invite candidates to the provincial nominations because immigration is a shared responsibility between the federal and provincial governments. Quebec is unique in that it has complete control over the entry of economic, skilled immigrants into the province.

Provincial Immigration Results April 22-28

British Columbia

British Columbia invited a total of 168 candidates to three targeted draws on April 25.

In BC PNP, candidates must meet the minimum cut-off score under Skilled Immigration Registration System (SIRS). It works much like the Express Entry Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS), but is only for those seeking provincial nomination from BC.

All candidates in this week’s draw were in the Skilled Worker or International Graduate stream, including Express Entry candidates.

The largest draw targeted 113 candidates with technical occupations and a minimum SIRS score of 90. In the second draw 28 candidates were invited for the occupations that fall under Childcare: Early Childhood Educators and Assistants (NOC 42202). Candidates needed a minimum score of 60.

The third draw invited 27 candidates in healthcare professions with a minimum score of 60.

alberta

Alberta published three separate draw results this week under the Alberta Advantage Immigration Program (AAIP). All the candidates were also in the Express Entry pool.

The first took place on April 20 and targeted 152 candidates with family ties to Alberta and a primary occupation in demand. All had a minimum CRS score in the range of 300-500.

124 candidates were invited to the draw on April 24, targeting the primary sector – construction businesses with Alberta job offers. The minimum CRS score invited was 301.

Eight candidates from the Healthcare Pathway, Alberta job offer stream, named in the final draw on April 25, were invited. The lowest scoring candidate had a CRS score of 316.

Alberta is expected to invite 9,750 candidates through the AAIP in 2024. The highest number of Express Entry candidates in the province, 1,462, are expected to be invited through the dedicated healthcare pathway.

Quebec

On April 20, Quebec invited 1020 candidates from the Quebec Skilled Worker Program to apply for permanent selection. All candidates had a score equal to or higher than 598 and had a valid job offer outside the area of the Communauté Metropolitan de Montréal.

While Quebec has complete autonomy over the selection of economic immigrants, candidates who are successful in obtaining the Quebec Selection Certificate must still apply to Immigration Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) for permanent residence.

Manitoba

Manitoba invited 558 letters of advice for candidates to apply in the Skilled Workers Overseas stream of the Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program (MPNP). Candidates needed a minimum score of 616 to be eligible.

Only candidates who have indicated that they are working in a regulated occupation and are fully licensed to work in Manitoba are selected in this draw.
