2 PNP immigration draws are issued by Saskatchewan
On October 21, 2020, the Saskatchewan Immigrant Nominee Program (SINP) invited immigration candidates under its express entry and demand categories of occupations.
On October 7, Saskatchewan invited candidates under its Express Entry category.
On October 21, a total of 618 successful candidates in the draw received an invitation to apply for provincial nomination for permanent residency.
A total of 340 candidates received invitations under the express entry category. The lowest ranked candidate required a score of 69 to receive an invitation.
An additional 278 candidates received invitations under occupation in-demand category and the lowest ranked candidate required a score of 78.
During the October 7 SINP draw, 455 express entry candidates received invitations and the minimum required score was 70.
So far 3,040 candidates have received invitations under express entry category in 2020.
In addition, this year 3,018 candidates have received invitations under the demand category of businesses.
In all, 6,082 SINP candidates have successfully received invitations in 2020.
To receive the invitation, candidates must present the SINP Expression of Interest (EOI) profile.
Saskatchewan uses expression systems to manage its skilled labor applications.
When submitting their profile, candidates should show their ability to settle in Saskatchewan and should be evaluated based on their age, education, work experience, language skills and the province’s relationships.
Saskatchewan uses this criterion to award candidates a score out of 100 on their International Skilled Worker points assessment grid.
Candidates with the highest score receive an invitation to apply for a provincial nomination, which they can use to submit a permanent residency application to their Immigration, Refugee and Citizenship Canada (IRCC).
While candidates do not require a job offer to succeed, they are required to show that they have at least one year’s work experience in a qualified skilled occupation that relates to their education.
Successful candidates in both draw rounds were required to present an educational credential assessment to Saskatchewan, indicating that their education is at par with Canadian standards.
Express entry sub-category
In the latest invitation round, Saskatchewan issued 455 invitations to candidates holding profiles in the Federal Express Entry pool.
The Federal Express Entry System manages Canada’s pool of candidates for three main economic-class immigration programs: the Federal Skilled Worker Program, the Federal Skilled Trades Program, and the Canadian Experience Class.
If candidates in the Federal Express Entry pool had also filled an EOI for Saskatchewan and had scored 68 on the SINP’s points assessment grid, they could have been invited to the latest draw.
Express Entry candidates who receive provincial nominations from the Saskatchewan province and receive 600 additional points toward their Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score. The award effectively guarantees that they will be invited to apply for permanent residency at the subsequent Federal Express entry draw, as most invite rounds invite candidates with a score of 400. The latest Express Entry draw has candidates scoring at least 472 marks.
The same goes for any of Canada’s provincial nominee programs aligned with Express Entry.
In-demand sub-category
The Occupation in-demand sub-category is open to immigration candidates who do not have a federal express entry profile.
Demand candidates were invited from 166 businesses to apply for a provincial nomination, and like the Express Entry sub-category, candidates were required to have a provincial score of 68 to be elected.
