Looking for Job in Australia from India?

All the Australian employers who are hiring candidates from foreign countries has to do the registration with the Australian Authority and give them the reason as in why they want to hire candidate from outside Australia. Employers in Australia can give the job to only those who are holding a genuine or valid visa. For example if you go on a tourist visa or study visa you cannot join a job nor can employer offer a job offer letter. Employers want the candidate to have work rights so that they don’t have to act as sponsors. 

How to get a Job in Australia from India?

So now, the question which comes to your mind is, how to get a job in Australia from India. So the best and legal way to search a job in Australia is to first apply for the Australia Immigration from India. Candidate first has to qualify for General skilled worker visas, all of which have full work rights for all family members and this is our preferred method of migration to Australia.  Some of you are not going to be eligible for general skilled migration visas and might have to try to obtain an offer of employment, and sponsorship by an employer but this is the more difficult route. It’s more difficult route because, unless you have working rights associated with your visa, employers will have to act as sponsors who include making onerous undertakings to the Australian Government such as agreeing to repatriate you and your family and making financial commitments to training the Australian workforce. Australia offers job opportunities to migrants in varied fields like hotel management, retail and administration. Using a Work Visa, migrants have options to either work full-time or part-time depending upon their own preference.  

Australian employers like to take direct interview and meet people face-to-face for securing a job. It displays a level of commitment and readiness that you simply can’t achieve sitting in your home country without a genuine visa. There is no way you can get a job offer letter seating in India or without a valid visa.

Candidate who want to apply for Australia Skilled worker visa (PR visa). You need to see whether you are eligible to apply for Australia PR visa or not. Below are the important factors you need to check the Eligibility. 

Step 1: Check if your profile matches with the Skilled Occupation Lists

This visa is only available to people who can fill a position on this list.

Step 2: Ensure you meet all the eligibility requirements

You must meet the following requirements in order to apply or use Australia point system to calculate your points:

  • Under age 50
  • IELTs minimum 7 bands each
  • Medical certificate
  • character Certificate
  • Do not have any outstanding debts to the Australian government

Step 3: Complete a Skills Assessment

Applicant need to complete a Skills Assessment and obtain an acceptable score in order to be eligible for the Subclass 189 visa. Your score must be meet that specified on your letter of invitation.

Step 4: Submit an Expression of Interest through Skill Select

Next, you will need to submit an Expression of Interest (EOI) through Skill Select. Your EOI will be seen by the Australian authorities as well as available to Australian employers who may be looking for someone of your skill-set to hire.

If you obtain a nomination or sponsor and your EOI meets the requirements of the visa, you be invited to apply for the 189 visa.

Step 5: Find a sponsor or obtain a government nomination

The Skilled Independent Work Visa (subclass 189) requires you to be sponsored by an employer or family member or nominated by a state or territory government. Once you find a suitable sponsor, they will send you a letter of invitation to apply for the visa. 

Step 6: Need your sponsor to complete necessary paperwork

Once you find a sponsor, you will need to have them nominate you for the visa. You can often apply for this visa at the same time your sponsor lodges their applications.

Employers can complete the employer nomination application online through the DHA.

Step 7: Apply for the Skilled Independent Work Visa (subclass 189)

After you find an employer and get a nomination, you can apply for the 189 visa online through the DHA.

Step 8: Wait for a decision

It can take several months for the DHA to make a decision on your visa application. In 2016, the processing time for the 189 visa was 3 months.

Step 9: Receive your visa and start working

Once your application is approved, you will receive your visa and can start work in Australia.

Cost & Fee included for Australia PR visa

The visa application fees currently paid to Australian Government are as follows:

  • Primary visa applicant: AUD $4,045
  • Each additional applicant over 18 years old (if applicable): AUD $2,020
  • Each additional applicant under 18 years old (if applicable): AUD $1,015

An additional fee of AUD$4,885 is payable by each applicant over 18 years old who does not speak intermediate English. This person is then entitled to 500 hours of “free” English classes after arriving in Australia.
