Express Entry: First All-program Draw since start of pandemic

Canada has resumed express entry draws for all programs and is now issuing invitations to apply to Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP) candidates.

3,900 invitations to apply are issued in the new Express Entry draw on July 08, 2020, and the minimum Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score in this round was 478.

Since the Coronavirus was labeled a pandemic and Canada introduced travel ban to prevent its spread, Express Entry draws have been limited to candidates from the Provincial Nominating Program (PNP) and Canadian Experience Class (CEC). This left FSWP and Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSTP) candidates on hold.

Most of the CEC candidates are already in Canada and are therefore not affected by Canada’s current travel restrictions. PNP candidates are invited and at the same time allow provinces to meet their labor market needs. While it is important to note that while Canada was not inducting FSWP and FSTP candidates, some of the CEC and PNP candidates who were invited to previous draws were also out of Canada.

Today’s draw was the same size as the previous all-program invitation round held March 4, which issued 3,900 ITAs.

It is the 22nd draw of 2020 and brings the total number of ITAs issued this year to 53,800, a new record for this date.

Express Entry Draw #155

Today’s minimum score of 478 was 7 points higher than the previous all-program invitation round on March 4, which had a cut-off score of 471.

The high CRS cut-off is a function of FSWP candidates securing ITAs once again. Given the length of time since the final draw of FSWP candidates, today’s draw includes ITARs for candidates with high CRS scores who would otherwise have been invited in earlier months, with the coronovirus epidemic leading to IRCC’s express entry The policies did not affect.

Express Entry Draw #155

Immigration Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) applied a tie break rule in today’s draw; candidates had to have submitted their profiles before February, 11, at 13:08:31 UTC. This means that all candidates with CRS scores above 478, as well as those with scores of 478 who entered their profile in the Express Entry pool before this date and time, received an ITA.

Canada’s main three categories are managed under the Express Entry System are: –

Candidates are ranked in the pool based on the CRS that considers 4 main factors: –

  1. Age
  2. Education
  3. Skilled work experience
  4. Proficiency in English or French
