Saskatchewan invites PNP 621 candidates with technical work experience
On 15 September, Saskatchewan invited a total of 621 candidates to apply for a provincial nomination for permanent residence in Canada.
The Saskatchewan Immigrant Nominee Program (SINP) invited candidates for the International Skilled Worker category through two subcategories: Express Entry, and Occupation In-Demand.
To be invited to this draw, candidates from both sub-categories must submit Expression of Interest (EOI) profiles with SINP. He should have experience of working in one of the following three technical occupations:
- Software Engineer & Designer (NOC 2173)
- Computer Programming and Interactive Media Developers (NOC 2174)
- Web Designers & Developers (NOC 2175)
Invited candidates in both categories also had academic credential assessments, which explain how foreign degrees, diplomas, and certificates are compared to Canadian credentials.
SINP uses the EOI system to select candidates who have the most potential to succeed in the regional labor market. Candidates are required to demonstrate their commitment to building a life in Saskatchewan by demonstrating their work experience, education, language ability, age, and province connections.
SINP uses these five factors to assess candidates and gives them a score out of 100 on the International Skilled Worker Points Assessment Grid. The highest-scoring candidates are then invited to apply for a provincial nomination from Saskatchewan.
The minimum score required in the September 15 draw was 68 for both sub-categories. Those who received an invitation with a minimum score required a connection in the province or at least 10 years of work experience and eight points for a Canadian language benchmark. Everyone else needed a score of at least 69.
Express entry sub-category
In the latest invitation round, Saskatchewan issued 455 invitations to candidates holding profiles in the Federal Express Entry pool.
The Federal Express Entry System manages Canada’s pool of candidates for three main economic-class immigration programs: the Federal Skilled Worker Program, the Federal Skilled Trades Program, and the Canadian Experience Class.
If candidates in the Federal Express Entry pool had also filled an EOI for Saskatchewan and had scored 68 on the SINP’s points assessment grid, they could have been invited to the latest draw.
Express Entry candidates who receive provincial nominations from the Saskatchewan province and receive 600 additional points toward their Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score. The award effectively guarantees that they will be invited to apply for permanent residency at the subsequent Federal Express entry draw, as most invite rounds invite candidates with a score of 400. The latest Express Entry draw has candidates scoring at least 472 marks.
The same goes for any of Canada’s provincial nominee programs aligned with Express Entry.
In-demand sub-category
The Occupation in-demand sub-category is open to immigration candidates who do not have a federal express entry profile.
Demand candidates were invited from 166 businesses to apply for a provincial nomination, and like the Express Entry sub-category, candidates were required to have a provincial score of 68 to be elected.
